There’s a new way to pay for health care, and several north Texas doctors say it’s saving patients hundreds.   Fort Worth physician  Chris Ewin charges a fixed monthly fee that give his patients unlimited care from him.   Patients get his cell phone, even his home phone number.   Dr. Ewin doesn’t accept insurance or Medicare but says the tradeoff gives patients signifianct savings.  He’s making as much or more than he used to , with far fewer patients.  The concierge model does not include hospitalization coverage, but offers deep discounts for labs and prescriptions.  Ewin is past president of the American Academy of Private  Physicians which is pushing the concept as  a way to cut health care costs.
