Whitefence.com surveyed 21 cities for utility rates and found that Dallas and Houston consumers pay the most for their utility bundles, which includes home phone, TV, Internet, electricity and natural gas. Electricity is the main reason those bills are so high. Ironically expensive cities like LA, San Francisco and NYC have the lowest utility rates. Terry Hadley with the Texas Public Utility Commission says rates are higher here, because of the hot weather and our homes  are much bigger than those other cities. He says it’s best to shop around for the best utility rates, which you can do on both PUC website as well as whitefence.com.
