Rangers third baseman Michael Young has not been added to the American League All-Star team.

AL manager Joe Girardi misspoke on Monday when asked if Red Sox third baseman Adrian Beltre would be able to play in the All-Star Game after injuring his left hamstring in Sunday’s 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Girardi, at Monday morning’s news conference, said Beltre was being replaced by Young. That’s not the case.

Beltre has informed the league that he wants to play in the All-Star Game. He plans to test it during Monday afternoon’s batting practice, but right now, Beltre is still on the active roster.

Young, who has been to six straight All-Star Games, would replace Beltre if Boston’s third baseman can’t play. But there are no plans for that right now.
