Governor Agrees: Math Standards could be better
The Governor agrees with a national report that there is room for improvement when it comes to Texas math standards. The Fordham Foundation report gives Texas a “c” when it comes to math standards and says Texas standards are clearly inferior to new national standards. Governor Perry is against Texas adopting national standards but he says Texas standards are getting better and will continue to improve. “It’s one of the reasons that we are moving our standards upward and onward.” The Governor says we must do a better job educating our students in math and science to make sure our students can compete in the global marketplace.
