Governor Rick Perry defends a land transaction that showed a profit of nearly a half million dollars. The Dallas Morning News reports it involved buying the land below appraised value and selling it above appraised value. Perry used an appearance at the Sheriff’s Association of Texas meeting in Fort Worth to say it was honest and above board. Democratic challenger Bill White says Perry failed to report the sale as required by law. Both White and Perry pledged support of more funding as they addressed the Sheriff’s association, especially for border security projects.
