Beach water is getting cleaner on Texas beaches, which is the opposite from the rest of the country. While the number of water quality warnings went up around the country in 2009 the number of warnings in Texas dropped. Environment Texas says there have been a lot of warnings this year already because of the gulf oil spill but none of those have been in Texas and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson says that shouldn’t change. “That’s the good news, it’s not been good news is Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama but in Texas it’s extremely good news, we’ve had no impact.” Patterson says while there’s a remote chance a hurricane could change that there’s also a good possibility a hurricane would dilute and disperse the oil and that would be a good thing.
