Capitol Tourists could see Budget Cutting Effects
So far budget cuts haven’t hurt operations at the State Capitol but bigger cuts that could be on the way just might. State Preservation Board Director John Sneed says a ten percent budget cut might cause problems. “I think those cuts will be felt by the people who work in and visit the Capitol.” There has already been 400 thousand dollars cut from the Governor’s Mansion Restoration Project but Project Manager Dealey Herndon says some cuts are off the table. “The two things we did not cut were the restoration itself and the security.” Herndon says heavy construction on the mansion should start in October with a completion date in the first three months of 2012.
