Burleson Nursing Home Evacuated Due to Power Outage
Yesterday’s dangerously high temperatures overwhelmed the staff and residents at a Burleson nursing home where the electricity went out just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, leaving no power to run the air conditioning. Three residents of Trinity Mission Health and Rehab were taken to a Fort Worth hospital while 47 others were moved to a nearby church. Oncor had the power back on just before midnight and the residents were moved back less than an hour later. We’re in the middle of what could turn out to be an eleven-day onslaught of triple-digit days. Today’s high will likely hit 103-to-105 with a Heat Index reading close to 110. Saturday’s high hit 100 degrees at DFW Airport and the National Weather Service is predicting triple-digit highs each day through at least next Tuesday.
