Some Plano business and home owners aren’t happy about a plan to build a new homeless shelter complex.
The six acre complex  would be located on 14 Street in east Plano and while opponents agree the city needs the $4 million homeless shelter they say the site is too close to  already existing subdivisions, as well as a number of businesses and the city’s tech center and would lead to more crime. But proponents say shelters in similar areas of North Texas have never had a problem with a crime increase. The proposal comes before the Plano City Council tonight when it will be asked to approve spending $700,000 in federal grant money to buy the land.
