The patchwork of cab and limo regulations in north Texas may be coming to an end. Michael Morris, Transportation Director of the Council of Governments says they’re going to test a system of regional inspection and licensing of limos during the upcoming SuperBowl. Current licensing is handled by each city and that can be difficult for passengers. Morris tells the Fort Worth Infrastructure and Transportation Committee they will give regional licensing a test run on limos only during SuperBowl. If that works it could be expanded to include north Texas cabs. But Fort Worth City Council member Joel Burns says there’s concern it’s a way to muscle out small cab operators. If the system works well with limos during SuperBowl it could be expanded to cabs later.
