No decision yet on the homeless center complex proposal in East Plano. Plano Mayor Phil Dyer says it’s time to let Planning and Zoning do its work first.
Samaritan Inn of McKinney wants to build a second facility and has asked the city to approve $700-thousand dollars in grant money to help buy the necessary land. The non-profit group doesn’t have land secured yet, but the most likely location involves six-acres of land at 14th and Shiloh.
Most of the speakers at last night’s council session supported the shelter–but some residents and business owners said they were worried about property values–and preferred to see another location selected.
The Plano council’s tabled the funding request and could vote on the zoning request next month.
