Tammy Sue Stegall is 51 now and was sentenced to 30 years for the death of Bedford resident Billy Stroud. Stegall pleaded guilty to a murder charge yesterday, one year to the day since she rear-ended the motorcycle driven by Stroud who had, just three days before, buried his 20-year-old son, a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan. Stegall was charged with murder because her long rap sheet that includes convictions for drug possession, credit card abuse, passing hot checks and at least two DWI’s. Tests showed that she was already way over the limit when she struck Stroud at 10:30 a.m. Stegall was driving without a license because it had been revoked following one of those earlier drunk-driving convictions.
