One high ranking education official says Texas should have a mega agency to oversee students education needs from pre-k through grad school.  Texas A&M System Chancellor Mike McKinney says having two agencies doing that now can mean a break in learning.  “If we’re all going to take money out of the same pot, and we do, and we’re all trying to educate the same population, and we are, I think that would be something that you should consider.”  Of course there are major differences in the Texas Education Agency and Higher Education Coordinating board to consider, like the fact that the Coordinating Board is appointed and the State Board of Education is elected.
