DISD Has Strong Attendance On First Day

After counting heads yesterday, the Dallas school district found that more than 128-thousand kids showed up for the first day of school.  That’s about two-thousand more than last year. A spokesman for Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says it’s the highest first-day enrollment in at least seven years.  Even so, administrators calculate there should be 157-thousand students in Dallas schools this year, meaning nearly 30-thousand kids were playing hooky yesterday.
