Drivers might like the mileage they get on their Prius…but pedestrians complain about the noise…or lack of it. They say the Prius is dangerous, because you can’t hear it coming. Even a recent U.S. Government report shows that hybrids are more likely to be involved in a pedestrian accident than cars with conventional accidents. So Toyota has created a $148 device that can be installed in the hybrid to make it as noisy as a regualar car. Right now it’s only available in Japan, but Toyota and other U.S. automakers are looking at ways to make their quiet hybrids safer. Watch the demo.
