An iconic North Texas building is getting a new lease on life. The Texas Theatre is about to re-open.  A group of local filmmakers plans to use the The Texas Theatre for movies, concerts and stage productions.   Aviation Cinemas has leased the theater from the Oak Cliff Foundation, which gets funding to move ahead with restoration.   The Jefferson Boulevard landmark was showing the movie “War is Hell” when Lee Harvey Oswald ran inside  without buying a ticket.   The new plan is to show independent films and the occasional first-run movie.   The first offering on September 30th is a documentary about the making of the film GIANT.   Click here to check out the website.
