Concerns are being raised by a state lawmaker and a group of law enforcement officers over the new Texas vanity license plates. Democrat Joe Pickett of El Paso who heads the house transporation committee says he’s worried that Texas, “Sold it’s soul” to make more money on license plates. Just last week, another 20 designs were approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles after they were submitted by MyPlates. Pickett says he’s heard from law enforcement officers that they’re concerned that some of the new designs themed after everything from colleges to hobbies are too cluttered. The Texas Municipal Police Association has asked that its members be involved in visibility testing. MyPlates says it will work with the police to ensure that the new designs are easy enough for them to read.
