Even though she’s caught up in an ethics scandal, Dallas Democrat Eddie Bernice Johnson still has her supporters and they’ll hold a rally for her at Dallas City Hall today.  A press release suggests that the gathering will include the Congresswoman’s friends and residents of her district but Johnson herself is not expected to be there.  The rally comes after two weeks of news revelations that Johnson violated anti-nepotism rules in doling out Congressional Black Caucus scholarships worth thousands of dollars to her own grandsons and great-nephews who were not eligible for the largesse.  Although she was once the chair of the CBC, Johnson says she was not aware of the rules governing the scholarships. Johnson is up for re-election in November.  Her opponent, Reverend Stephen Broden, has asked for congressional investigation.
