North Texas Schools Get Teacher Merit Pay Money

North Texas receives federal grant money earmarked for teacher merit pay.

Fort Worth ISD and charter school operator Uplift Education are two North Texas recipients of theĀ grant money. While critics of merit pay argue it encourages cheating and puts too much of an emphasis on student performance, supporters claim it encourages good teachers to stay in the classroom instead of seeking higher-dollar administrative jobs.
