Sansom Park Shake-Up: Three Cops Fired, Chief Suspended

The shake-up in the Sansom Park Police Department seems to have taken everyone by surprise.  That’s about 25 percent of the entire police force for the city of 4,500 people. Mayor Jim Barnett isn’t saying much but he does confirm there were allegations of sexual harassment and violations of department policy. Acknowledging this is embarrassing to the city, Barnett says they may have to rely on their volunteer reserve force for the time being. The city council meets on Thursday to talk this over.

This does not surprise me at all. I watch the police harass drivers on Jacksboro Hwy everyday. The police drive at high speeds, personally witnessed an officer pull his weapon on a very elderly man that was taken away in an ambulance, women and children left on the street after their car was towed away, and neglegence to police calls because of traffic stops! This is not a police department its an abuse force. Sansom Park needs more than a shake-up in the police dept. Mike
