Fort Worth’s postmaster is on paid leave while an investigation moves forward, looking into what may be irregularities in the local post office’s paperwork. The US Postal Service is investigating reports of lapses in how the Fort Worth facility’s mail volume was recorded. Those figures are important when it comes time to set budgets. Fort Worth Postmaster Les Phipps has been on leave since September 24th. He thinks this should be resolved quickly, telling the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the issue is focused on two dates that were transposed, leading to discrepancies in the volume that was reported in official documents. A special agent for the Postal Service’s Inspector General confirms an investigation is underway but would not say what it involves.
