A long-time Grand Prairie teacher’s aide has been fired after sending a note home to a student’s parent. The problem is, the aide used a felt-tip marker to write on the girl’s forearm. The note requests a phone call from the girl’s mother, saying “…call Jayne to-nite.” The aide says by “Jayne” she meant the Special Olympics coach, although that is not the coach’s name. The eleven-year-old girl is described as “…a special needs…” student and a notebook is usually used to communicate messages to her parents. It’s not clear why the nine-year veteran bypassed the notebook and wrote directly on the student’s skin. The mother and the teacher’s aide met with the Fannin Middle School principal on Wednesday. Before the end of the day, the aide had been fired.
