Two people avoided injury after a train smashed into their pick-up near downtown Fort Worth. It happened around 2 a.m. and police think that the pair, a man and a woman, were sound asleep in the pick-up stopped dead on the tracks near Peach and Live Oak, just north of Belknap. Because the train was not going very fast, the operator saw the pick-up and was able to slow down even more. Even so, the train clobbered the pick-up and pushed it down the tracks for a quite a distance. The impact woke the man up who took off on foot, leaving the woman behind. Police caught up to him and hauled him to jail. The woman was taken to the hospital but her injuries are not life-threatening.
