The second-in-command at the Coppell Police Department is now on suspension while investigators try to find $1500 missing from police headquarters. CBS-11 reports that the Texas Rangers were called in to search for the money at the police department and the city jail. They’ve also interviewed police officers and civilian employees, but no one is saying much more than that. The missing money is part of a fund used by undercover narcotics officers to make drug buys. CBS-11 says Deputy Chief Steve Thomas was placed on administrative leave, but Police Chief Gary Nix is not commenting on why.
