Fort Worth Councilman Joel Burns has gained national attention after giving an emotional speech Tuesday for the “It Gets Better” campaign. The nationwide campaign was started to help reach out to young gay people. Burns said he wished he could reach out to his own thirteen-year-old self, who struggled with being gay, and hoped that those listening would be able to give themselves a chance and see that life will get better. “It Get’s Better” was started in September after a gay teenager in Indiana killed himself for being made fun-of by classmates. Burns will also appear on CBS and CNN Friday.
