North Texas Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

Sergeant Carlos Benitez’s sister Amy remembers her brother as a man who loved his family and the unit he committed to serve with, after signing up when he was 18 years old. The now 24-year-old was a graduate of Creekview High in Carrollton and served two tours of duty in Iraq before being deployed to Afghanistan in July. He was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado and moved his wife and two children to the state recently. The family has not yet made arrangements for his funeral, but say it will probably be in Irving. He is the second North Texas soldier killed in Afghanistan in the past two weeks.
