TxDot Releases Funds To Improve Dallas’ Katy Trail

By Matt Thomas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Joggers and cyclists along the Katy Trail in Dallas will soon notice some new safety measures.  City Council Member Angela Hunt says they’re getting 700-thousand dollars from the Texas Department of Transportation for improvements.

“The great thing about this is we will get to move forward rapidly on these type of safety improvements,” Hunt said.

Some of the money will be used for new traffic-control devices at locations where the trail crosses busy city streets.

Hunt is happy to have the funding considering the death of 28-year-old jogger Lauren Huddleston on the trail last month when she was hit by a bicycle.
