New York, NY (Sports Network) – Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Bryan McCann and Chicago Bears return specialist Devin Hester have been chosen as the NFC’s top players for Week 10.
Vick picked up the offensive award for the second consecutive week with a sublime performance against the Washington Redskins on Monday night, as the veteran QB became the first player in NFL history to record 300-plus passing yards (333), 50-plus rushing yards (80), four passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in the same game in a dominating 59-28 victory.
It is the first time a quarterback was named NFC Player of the Week in back- to-back weeks since Minnesota’s Randall Cunningham did so in 1998.
Playing in his second career game, McCann recorded a 101-yard interception return for a touchdown in Dallas’ win over the New York Giants to nab defensive honors. The Southern Methodist product also had five tackles.
Hester garnered yet another special teams award, the eighth of his career, thanks to 147 return yards — 100 kickoff, 47 punt — to ignite Chicago in a 27-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass.
