DALLAS (KRLD 1080) – Dallas firefighters tried to stop the flames at a three-alarm apartment fire near Central Expressway and Royal Lane.

The call came in just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning from the Madison Park Apartments, a three-floor complex on Steppington Drive. People were awakened by neighbors pounding on their doors, some yelling “fire.”

KRLD reported live from the scene and spoke with one woman who watched her neighbor’s apartment burn and said, “That one right there… it’s gutted. Nothing else in this apartment.”

At 7:00 a.m, firefighters were still looking for hotspots, but the fire itself had been extinguished. There are no reported injuries, and no one is sure just yet what caused the blaze. Fire Lieutenant Joel Lavender said that, fortunately, the flames never got out of control.

At least some of the renters were evacuated, and the Red Cross is on-site to help out those who could not go back to their apartments.
