DFW AIRPORT (CBSDFW.com) - DFW Airport officials evacuated part of Terminal D at midday Friday after reports of a suspicious noise coming from a shipping drop box in the terminal.
In a news release, DFW Public Affairs Manager David Magaña said the noise was first reported at 10:38 Friday morning.
Magaña said airport police evacuated the central part of the terminal, ranging from gates D-20 to D-25. Police also closed the checkpoint adjacent to gate D-22.
Magaña told KRLD airport police had brought in a bomb squad:
Police removed the package from the airport for further investigation.
Officers re-opened the terminal by 1 p.m.
The situation caused two flight delays, Magaña said.
Editor’s note: DFW’s initial statement said the suspicious noise was first reported at 11:15 a.m. A subsequent statement corrected that time to 10:38 a.m.
