Gay Texas Marine Happy About ‘Don’t Ask’ Repeal

Activists Rally On Capitol Hill For Congress To Pass Repeal Of DADT

COLLEGE STATION (KRLD) - President Obama has officially signed the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law, which is great news for one young Marine from Texas.

Danny Hernandez was about to graduate from Texas A&M’s ROTC program when he was discharged earlier this year for being openly gay. With mounting student loan bills that were supposed to be paid for by the military, the repeal is a huge relief for him.

Hernandez says until the military officially implements the repeal, it’s still too early for gay soldiers to come out of the closet. He’s hoping it will be complete by the first quarter of next year.
