DUNCANVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) – The Duncanville Police Department’s SWAT Team entered a residence nearly five hours after a man barricaded himself inside to find him dead from a gunshot wound.

The man is accused of shooting another man inside the home just after 3 p.m. Monday. Police said the victim ran out of the house into another house across the street. Neighbors said the man was shot in the arm. Nobody has been officially identified, and neighbors were asked to stay inside their homes until the incident was diffused.

The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital and his condition is unknown. Officials said there were children inside the home at the time of the shooting, but they managed to escape without injury.

Neighbors said this may stem from a domestic disturbance because the suspect knows the victim. Police first tried speaking through a loud speaker to convince the man to exit peacefully, but he did not. Authorities then fired tear gas canisters into the home and waited for him to exit.

Authorities entered the home at about 7:30 p.m. and found the man dead from a  gunshot wound, a spokesman said. They did not say whether the wound was self-inflicted, and did not release his name.
