ELLIS COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Two people are dead after a single engine plane crashed in Ellis County.
Shortly after the Columbia LC 41 plane took off, there are reports the aircraft tumbled out of control and went down nose first.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson Lynn Lunsford told CBS 11 News that the incident happened near The Eagles Nest – a private airstrip and fly-in community located in the 5200 block of Shiloh Road, near Midlothian.
While the Columbia LC 41 seats four people, there were just two passengers onboard.
Officials from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department are on the scene and the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are sending investigators as well.
