AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – A class-action suit against Westwood College has been denied by a district court Judge in Austin.
Westwood has campuses in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston. The class action suit claimed Westwood charged tuition for on-line courses in Texas for years without official certification from the state. Career schools and colleges offering on-line courses must register with the Texas Workforce Commission.
The court ruled that the student who led the class-action suit derived “most if not all, of his knowledge of the case from his attorneys” and appeared to be little more than a bystander to the suit. Westwood College, which is based in Colorado, no longer offers on-line courses in the state of Texas.
