DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – An unwanted gush turning to slush led to traffic detours in downtown Dallas after a water main broke.
Crews worked Wednesday to close the pipeline on the freezing day. Ankle-deep water rushed through some intersections.
Crews managed to stop the water flow around 7 a.m., but the intersection at Harwood and Canton remains covered with ice. Sanding trucks are now treating those streets and an area several blocks away, where more ice was found.
City officials are urging people to use caution when coming through the area near Dallas City Hall.
The National Weather Service says temperatures early Wednesday dipped to the low 20s in Dallas.
