FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – When it comes to a beautiful smile, natural’s nice but bright is better.

“That’s what we give patients to try to get them to come back,” explained Dallas dentist Dr. Clint Herzog, who offers free teeth whitening to all new patients.

In-office treatments like “zoom” cost from $200-$600 and a custom tray and gel system will set you back around $200.

But according to Dr. Herzog, there are a variety of at-home teeth whitening products that are also effective. There’s even a new dental floss that whitens in between teeth. “That’s the hardest area [between teeth] to keep white, so it really does do the job,” he said.

Even red wine lovers can now sip without worry. A new product called ‘Wine Wipes’ promises to wipe away stained smiles. “You take it and wipe it on the teeth or lips and it takes the red wine stain away,” said store owner Holly Donnelly, who sells the wipes at her ‘Off the Vine’ shop in Grapevine.

But are any of these products too tough on your teeth? And can you overdo a dazzling smile? Dr Herzog says, “No.”

According to Dr. Herzog, the products simply aren’t strong enough. “They really don’t have enough peroxide to really be a danger to your teeth.”
