DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police are looking for a gunman who robbed an elderly woman in the parking lot of a popular mall Tuesday.
The 77-year-old woman, who asked not to be identified, was walking to her car in a parking lot at Dallas’ NorthPark Center Tuesday night when she heard a voice and felt the barrel of a gun against the back of her head.
“I ran over there for some boots,” says the woman, “he said do not move don’t turn around very gently raise your arms and let me have that pretty little fur.”
The armed robber demanded the woman’s 14-carat diamond ring, valued at $65,000 and fur coat worth about $22,000. ”I was very shook last night, I’m much better now, I just think I’ll be more cautious,” says the woman.
Dallas Police are hoping the crime was captured by security cameras. “He very easily could have seen her inside the mall wearing the fancy jewelry and the mink coat and followed her until there was no one around,” says Dallas Police Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse.
The victim was unable to see the gunman or his vehicle so police have no suspect information.

Gee Whiz people, stop wearing expensive things like that….just asking thugs to attack you. Wear them when you are going to be around lots of people all of the time. It is a much different world today.

I agree with you. She probably felt like if she survived the guy who furnished those things TO HER, then she could survive anything. I sure hope she had insurance for replacement. AND, where was the Mall Security ppl? I’m glad she wasn’t hurt cause this was a crazy person doing this crime. It is a very different world today but it has been known for years to not go to any mall after dark alone…

Why do women go out at night ALONE wearing jewels and fur? This lady might as well have put a sign on her back that said “I have more money than sense; please rob me”. Gee. I’m 20 years younger than her and I won’t even go to the grocery store after dark alone. Don’t tempt trouble! Horrible thing to happen, but she should not have been out at 9pm ALONE.

Far too much has happened to shopper’s at this Center. At some point NorthPark will get the security it needs. The only thing that she should have done was not to shop alone at night. I be darned if I would change what I’ve worked so hard for in fear of a robber. This could have happened in her driveway.

It honestly doesn’t matter if you shop alone or not. I was mugged at gunpoint last year at Northpark with a group of people. Pointed a gun at my head and demanded money.

$22,000 she paid to wear the skins of 65 slaughtered and tortured minks. Glad the old lady wasn’t hurt by the d-bag who robbed her, but kind of sounds like karma to me….

Northpark is a fine shopping center with excellent security. They can’t be in every square inch every second of the day or night. You have to be aware of your surroundings! The robber marked her early on and probably followed her from the store where she bought the boots.
