SURPRISE, AZ (105.3 THE FAN) – With the Cactus League opener coming this Sunday, the Texas Rangers announced today that they have agreed to terms with seven players on contracts for the 2011 season.

Pitchers Tommy Hunter, Matt Harrison, Wilmer Font and Fabio Castillo all signed along with Infielder Chris Davis, First baseman Mitch Moreland and Catcher Taylor Teagarden.

Hunter went 13-4 with a 3.73 earned run average over a career-high 22 starts and one relief outing last season with the Rangers. He opened the season on the disabled list with a left oblique strain and was also sidelined by a hip flexor injury during the 2010 campaign.

The 24-year-old right-hander was 0-2 with a 5.56 ERA in three playoff turns.

Moreland hit .255 with nine home runs and 25 runs batted in over 47 regular season games last year, his first in the big leagues. He batted .348 with a long ball and seven RBI in 46 post-season at-bats.

With these agreements, there are now seven players under club control on the 40-man roster who have yet to sign: Elvis Andrus, Omar Beltre, Andres Blanco, Craig Gentry, Eric Hurley, Alexi Ogando and Pedro Strop.

The Rangers play the first game Sunday against Kansas City at Spring Training camp in Surprise, Arizona.
