IRVING (AP) – The political instability spreading across the oil-producing nations of the Middle East and North Africa is blamed for a surge in the retail price of gasoline at pumps across Texas and the nation.
The weekly AAA Texas price survey released Thursday found that the average price of a gallon of unleaded regular grade gasoline rose 9 cents this week to $3.08 in Texas and $3.23 nationally.
The most expensive average price of unleaded regular gasoline at Texas pumps was $3.12 per gallon in Amarillo, a 13-cent increase from last week, with prices topping $3.10 per gallon in Dallas-Fort Worth and El Paso. The least expensive gasoline in Texas was in San Antonio, where regular unleaded averaged $3.04 per gallon, a 9-cent increase from last week.

It’s ridiculous when the economy is so terrible. In Benton, AR., it went from $2.91 on Tuesdays to $3.25 on Thursday. $ .33 increase in 48 hours.

can we say “price gouging”. the fuel that has risen in price 10-15% in 5 days was allready in the system prior to the spike in prices. as of thursday evening it was $3.19 for regular unleaded in s. central arlington.

why does everything go up except people’s salaries. Gas prices are one of the leading factors that got us in this sorry economy we are now in.
Obama, needs to do something about this. It’s out of hand and again the public is paying for it.

Is is what we American gets when idiots like Obuma wont drill here. Yes there a risk but you rather pay those middle easterns for oil. They are the ones who are at fault,,, and were just letting them do it. Time to rally the troops and go after what Bush really want the oil….
Obuma not going to so anything except drag his knuckles as he has for his term.

@ Sara instead of more drilling in the US, how about some REAL regulations in regard to mpg?I drive a turbo diesel vw passat. I pay about $65 to fill it up but I get 600 miles to the tank. I routinely get 45 on the highway. Why don’t American cars offer diesel options?
Also, I’m going to assume that by knuckle dragging you mean taking a long time and you aren’t comparing our president to an ape. That said, you should really think about things like that before you say them/ type them because it’s pretty crass.

Sure lets help the average citizen, make them pay highter taxes, raise cost of food, raise gas prices which causes air travel more expensive, goint to work more expensive, etc. etc. etc. My husband has been out of work 24 months, come on, get things calemed down. Stop blowing all the money & use what you are supposed to & nothing else. If the average citizen did this our butts would be in jail. Hey, that’s a thought, a place to live, 3 square meals a day . If the government & counties, etc. can’t do something with the budgets then get Dave Ramsey or somebody who can!!!

Go ahead make the average citizen pay more taxes, higher prices on food, gas, electric, etc. etc. etc. My husband has been out of work for 24 months, we can’s hang on much longer. If the government can’t balance the budget get someone like Dave Ramsey to do it. If it was the average person balanced our bedgets like the government, states, counties, etc., our butts would be in jail. Come to think about maybe that’s not so bad, 3 squares a day, a bed, a roof over our heads. WHY DOES THE AVERAGE CITIZEN HAVE TO DO THIS MAKE CONGRESS, THE PRESIDENT, THE SENATE, CEO’S, ETC. TAKE CUTS IN THEIR SALARY TO BALANCE THE BUDGET NOT TEACHERS WHO DON’T GET PAID FOR ALL THAT THEY DO. I have two grown children that are teachers & my husband WAS going to get into the field, not right with thousands of teachers losing their jobs here in Texas. Somebody help!!! Where are you Dave Rsmsey?
