Parkland Changes Autopsy Policy

DALLAS (AP) – Parkland Memorial Hospital has changed the way families are asked to approve autopsies for loved ones in order to provide more information.

The charity hospital acknowledged Friday that new consent forms went into effect this month. The forms more clearly inform families that organs are removed during an autopsy and can be returned before a funeral is held.

In December, a family was outraged when organs were taken from their deceased daughter during an autopsy and never returned. The family said the 27-year-old woman wanted to be buried “whole.”

The new form states that families may request than body parts be returned at the time of the autopsy.

Now if Parkland would change it’s policy of lying to and withholding care to some patients and stop catering to those in this country illegally who never pay for Parkland!

I agree ! Our property taxes are waste because Perry refuses to do anything about it! Why doesn’t Parkland triple the bills for these people and maybe they would go away!

These parents are stupid ! Doesn’t anyone watch Dr. G on tv? During autopsy they remove the organs to find cause of death. That means they slice the brain and other organs to look for cause of death.By the time they are finished with the organs they just a pile of chucks and brain is just slices that are mush by the end of the autopsy. So these parents wanted the ME to pour this mess back into their daughters body? The ME should make these parents watch an autopsy and see if that is what they really want.
