Webb Feeling Strong, Making Progress For Rangers
SURPRISE, AZ (AP) – Brandon Webb likes his velocity after another bullpen session.
Webb threw 46 pitches Tuesday, then said he “felt strong at the end” and wanted to keep going.
It was the former NL Cy Young Award winner’s second time on the mound in three days after the Rangers had him go through an extended program to build arm strength. Webb hasn’t pitched in a major league game since shoulder surgery that followed the 2009 opener for Arizona.
Manager Ron Washington says he’s seeing what he wants from Webb, that the right-hander is making progress.
Webb threw 18 pitches more than he did Sunday, which was his first time on a mound in 10 days. He says he’s having no issues.
