DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – What began as a purse snatching at a North Texas Wal-Mart store has led to a capital murder charge.

A 76-year-old woman, who was dragged by a pickup through a parking lot, has died from her injuries. Fabra Leavy was dragged 40 yards before she fell to the ground and was run over on March 9.

Leavy was able to talk afterward and told investigators the man driving the truck grabbed her purse and took off while her arm was still caught in the strap.

On Saturday, police arrested 28-year-old Rogelio Belmonte of Denton for the crime.  He’s sitting in the Dallas County jail, charged with capital murder. His bond is just over $500,000.

The incident happened at the Lake Highlands Wal-Mart on Forest Lane and a video surveillance camera captured the entire thing.

Investigators found the pickup involved in the attack and began watching it. As police watched the vehicle they saw a man and a woman, both in their early 20s, get in the truck. The two were taken in to custody and are being questioned by police.
