College Campus Guns Bill Delayed Again In State Senate

AUSTIN (AP) – A bill to allow concealed handguns into Texas college classrooms has stalled again the state Senate.

Now the bill that seemed likely to pass when the session began may be mortally wounded as opponents continue to rally support to defeat it.

The Republican sponsor of the bill says he didn’t have the votes to bring it up Monday. Sen. Jeff Wentworth of San Antonio said he hopes the delay is temporary but would not predict its future.

Wentworth had to delay the bill last week when support began to wane.

Higher education officials have strongly opposed the measure. They worry guns will lead to campus violence.

Supporters call it a critical self-defense measure and gun rights issue.

If they are smart they will let the bill die on the floor

If they had training, Concealed carry permit,then I see no issue with guns on college campus, when students bring weapons and are shot by teachers, then don’t get into controversy over who has right to use deadly force.

Darn, who told criminals that all law abiding citizens are defenseless between buildings and cars where they must store guns? It was supposed to be a secret.

Another case of people being against licensed carry of guns thinking it leads to bloodshed in the streets. They were proved wrong when Texas allowed concealed carry and they are wrong now as shown by states that allow licensed students to carry on campus. I believe Utah and Colorado are a couple of these states. I’ll never understand why people feel it is a bad thing to be able to defend yourself.

One Senator doesn’t care how many are robbed raped or killed on the way to their car, his campaign money comes from people who already graduated.

Wait till the PARENTS vote in the next election though …
