Bats Boom As Fireworks Show Postponed

By Ryan Crowe,

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) –  The Texas Rangers hammered home the fact they will be blowing through the season with an 11-6 route of the Kansas City Royals Friday night, but the other part of the festivities has to be called off because of something else blowing through.

Friday’s postgame fireworks show had to be called off because of high winds.

According to a press release from the team, the cancellation didn’t come until the top of the 9th from the Arlington Fire Department.

“The Rangers want to apologize to all of our fans for the cancellation of tonight’s fireworks show,” said Rangers CEO & President Nolan Ryan in a statement.

The team said it will offer all fans holding a ticket to Friday’s game a free ticket to selected future games in 2011.   To find out what games are available, click here.

The fireworks show will be rescheduled for June 7.  The Rangers faced a similar cancellation last July.

If the person writing this article truly knew English, they’d know the use of the word rout would make sense in the lead-in sentence, but route does not. We are becoming a nation of illiterates.

  2. Andy says:

Chrystin — “If the person writing…they’d know the use….” If you truly knew English grammar, you would hae written “If the person…he’d know ….” Yes, we are becoming a nation of illerates.

  3. Mike says:

Andy, tsk, tsk. I’m afraid that we(collectively) will have to put you(singularly) in that pool of illiterates(where you said illerates). The proper use of the english language should have said: “If the person(meaning anyone, not gender specific)writing…,one(meaning anyone, again, not gender specific, where you stated he’d) would have known the use..” 🙂

Chrystin’s post is correct. You two are illiterates (not illerates).
    An old editor.

  5. Brent says:

Mike, join the pool. The “use of the english language” would not have “said” anything; it would have “been.”

Cant anyone in this area agree on anything???

old editor, apparently you were once one….Chrystin’s post is NOT corrrect in spelling.

If we can’t agree on this miniscule error how in God’s name are we to make decisions about something important ???

  7. nitrostan says:

Nor did I check spelling….don’t bother clogging up with inane responses, please.

By commenting on these comments, I am surrounding myself with morons.
Who really cares if the writer put an “e” at the end of “rout”. Maybe, Chrystin, you should take a second to really learn the English language, you’d realize that the word “however” should have been used, instead of “but”. However, I am no English professor, and I would rather get the information that he was trying to share instead of trying to demean the writer for what may have simply been a typo.

    Have a GREAT day.

    Preparation H, please?

Don’t try to correct my mistakes, I don’t care.

All these posts and not one of them is about the actual story. Picky, picky.
