Motive Sought In Slaying Of UTA Counselor’s Spouse

ARLINGTON (AP) –  Detectives are seeking clues to what led a 22-year-old university student to gun down his counselor’s husband before killing himself outside a day care center.

A police statement says the gunman confronted 42-year-old Steven McIntosh of Colleyville in front of the Country Day School of Arlington about 5:45 p.m. Friday and shot him several times before shooting himself in the head. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the suspected gunman as Antonio Garcia, a senior at the University of Texas at Arlington, where McIntosh’s wife is a psychological counselor at the university.

McIntosh’s wife recently withdrew as Garcia’s counselor and referred him elsewhere, and there was no indication of any relationship between the two other than a professional one, according to the statement.
