Dallas Performing Arts Center Gets New President
DALLAS (AP) - The AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas has named a man who most recently led the Washington National Opera to be president and chief executive officer.
The center announced Tuesday that Mark J. Weinstein begins his new role on June 1.
Weinstein served for two years as executive director of the Washington National Opera.
He led the Pittsburgh Opera from 1997 to 2008. Before that, he spent 13 years with the New York City Opera, serving as the executive director for the last three years.
He replaces Mark Nerenhausen, who left in July 2010.
The performing arts center opened in October 2009. It includes space for the Dallas Opera, Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Black Dance Theatre in downtown venues set on 10 acres.
