Sandie’s Arts Blog: A Week Of Concerts & Events
The DSO presents Oz with Orchestra! There may not be a yellow brick road but put on your favorite character costume from The Wizard of Oz and head on down to the Morton Meyerson Saturday night for a great evening of music and a movie! The classic Oscar winning film will be projected on stage and accompanied by the DSO. It’s a great way to see the film like you’ve never seen it before! Tickets range from $30.00 – $75.00.
Also on Saturday night The New Texas Symphony Orchestra will be performing in the Hamon Hall at the Winspear Opera House at 7:30p.
The Black Academy of Arts and Letters will be hosting a Comedy Night at The Muse featuring Jay Deep both Friday and Saturday nights at 9pm in the Clarence Muse Cafe Theater.
And lastly, make sure you visit Fort Worth’s beautiful Botanic Gardens as their popular Concerts in the Garden series begins this weekend. Asleep at the Wheel starts off the fun Friday night with Magical Mystery Tour – a great Beatles cover band – playing Saturday and the weekend finishes off with the Best of the Big Bands. Tickets are $16.00 for the lawn area so bring a blanket or chair and a picnic and enjoy the beautiful gardens as you listen to first class entertainment! Children under 12 are always free on the lawn and the weekend concert continue through July.
Next week the much anticipated BILLY ELLIOT opens at the AT&T Performing Arts Center so stay tuned for more info. I’ll see you next week…centerstage!
