9-Year-Old Girl Killed In Frisco Car Crash

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) – A horrible car crash along the service road of southbound State Highway 121 killed a 9-year-old girl and left her mother and sister in the hospital. The incident happened on Wednesday shortly after 9:00 p.m. between Plano Parkway and Spring Creek Parkway in Frisco, as the family was parked on the side of the road waiting for help.

According to police, a tow truck rear-ended the family’s sedan. The impact knocked the car into a nearby wall. The 9-year-old girl inside was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 32-year-old mother and 12-year-old sister were transported to Medical Center of Plano in serious condition, but both are now expected to be okay.

The deceased 9-year-old girl has been identified as Macie Hooten, a student in the Carrollton Farmers Branch Independent School District.

The 49-year-old Frisco tow truck driver was not hurt during the crash.

The family was pulled over on the side of the road due to car trouble. Police noted that the tow truck was not coming to help this particular car. It is still too early in the investigation, police said, to tell if the tow truck driver will face any charges in this case.

Of course there has to be charges against the tow truck driver, i.e. a formal arrest and trial. The tow driver has to answer to this family as to what happened. Was the driversoing? texting? drinking? over tired? or just did not see them? On meds?

    1. Juana says:

It’s caused an ACCIDENT. Trials are for people who negligently and knowingly do something, not an ACCIDENT.

I have since found out that it was indeed dark, and he didn’t see them in time to take evasive action. It sounds like it was kind of similar to what happened to my friends. This very sad. I feel bad for everyone involved.

  2. 2sister says:

It’s also possible that he didn’t see them because of poor lighting conditions. I have friends that hit a stalled car or wrecked car. The car they hit had no hazard lights on. There were no flares put on on the road. Also, it was dark outside and the lighting was poor where my friends had their accident.

I’m not saying that this is the case in the accident mention it this story, but I’m saying that we need to be careful about judging until we have all of the facts.

  3. Long Memory says:

This has nothing to do with the news story — What’s up with KTVT bringing out the same old photo of a Firestone Wilderness AT tire for the website every time something happens with a car? How about some automotive clip art or something a bit more up to date? That story was way back in the 90’s, can’t you let it die yet?

    1. Chris says:

Check that off the list of things I was cofnused about.

Many thoughts and prayers to the family…

Long Memory, I agree about the picture… They use it for 100’s of stories not related to Firestone tires.

Honey, our deepest prayers to God for you and your family! Absolutely heart-wrenching ! Please let your pastor/priest know of this (about your dad’s depression), so that your family doesn’t experience further tragedy!
Remain strong for your parents! You seem very strong, and right now, they will look to you, fearing loosing you, too! Tell your parents now, every single day that you love them, that Macie is in Heaven, and she is fine now. For now, life is still worth living, we must move forward, and know that God in His Mercy understands your pain and He will give you comfort and peace!
      God Bless you, Dagny!

My prayers go out for the tow truck driver and his family as well. May they find peace and comfort in this difficult time. Let’s not rush to judge without all the facts.

Dagny, I am so sorry for your loss. May your and family experience emotional healing and closure and have the strength to take each day, one day at a time.

  8. pj says:

    Dear Dagny,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister and the emotional and physical challenges that your family is experiencing right now. Please know that you are in my prayers. My husband and I live at 121 and Spring Creek. We were listening to Joyce Meyer on TV when we heard the ambulance close by outside. I began praying for whoever the ambulance was going to meet. — Today one of our neighbors told us about the accident. Please remember that Isaiah 40:13 says that if we wait upon The Lord He WILL renew our strength. I’m sure you all are feeling very weak and fragile right now. — I didn’t see the news story before now so wanted to look it up as I began to cry making dinner tonight thinking about you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  9. pj says:

… and my prayers also go out to the driver of the tow truck as well. — It’s Isaiah 40:31. I said 40:13 before. May the Lord comfort and strengthen all involved.

    Love , pj

Hi Dagny, My son Riley was in Macie’s class and I’ve known Macie since she was in kindergarten when they started school together. I can’t imagine the loss you are going through. I used to see you all walk home from school everyday holding hands. The whole community at school is praying for you, your mom, and your dad!! Macie always had the sweetest smile on her face and I know she’s letting Jesus enjoy it right now. Thank you for reaching out to all of us who care about you deeply. “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8). We are here for you. Love you!!

  11. Dawn says:

Dagny, we are so sorry this happened to your family. Sade and Remi are very sad to hear about their Sunday school friend. We’ve known Macie ever since she was a baby, when your mom used to take care of Remi in the nursery. Macie was a a good friend and a very sweet girl. God bless you. We will keep praying for you and your mom. We love you.
