FORT WORTH (AP) - A Waco teenager already sentenced to 25 years in prison for trying to smother her infant son at a Fort Worth hospital faces new charges.
A Tarrant County jury had sentenced Shantaniqua Nykole Scott in Fort Worth on May 20. Now, McLennan County prosecutors have filed two counts each of aggravated assault and child endangerment.
McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna tells the Waco Tribune-Herald he wants Scott held accountable for actions in Waco similar to that in Fort Worth.
Court affidavits show Scott told a Waco detective of placing her hand over the boy’s mouth and nose until he stopped breathing at least three times in Waco before his transfer to Fort Worth.
David Jones, her defense attorney in the Tarrant County case, declined to comment.
