Dallas, Fort Worth Pick Mayors In Runoff Elections
DALLAS (AP) – It’s decision day for voters in Dallas and Fort Worth as they go to the polls to choose new mayors in a runoff election.
In Dallas, former city homeless czar Mike Rawlings faces former Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle in Saturday’s voting. Fort Worth voters are choosing between former tax assessor Betsy Price and former City Council member Jim Lane.
Rawlings was the biggest vote-getter in the May primary election in Dallas with 41 percent to Kunkle’s 32 percent. Council member Ron Natinsky finished third with 25 percent, he has endorsed Rawlings in the runoff.
In Fort Worth, Price got 43 percent of the vote to Lane’s 26 percent.
A runoff is required when a single candidate does not get more than 50 percent of the vote.
